Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS)
The Department of Health
and Human Services is the United States government's principal agency for
protecting the health of all
Americans and providing
essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help
themselves.
HHS is the largest grant-making
agency in the federal government, providing some 60,000 grants per year.

Department
of Education
The
Department of Education's priorities include national efforts to improve
reading and math, reduce class size, strengthen school construction, and
promote major new 2000 initiatives, including the Safe and Drug Free Schools
Initiative. Through this effort, the DOE helps school districts identify
effective procedures, policies, and programs that serve to discipline students
without suspending or expelling them. It's support of video and cyber conferences
is an example of this effort.

Department
of Justice
The
federal government's law enforcement agency, the Department of Justice
is the home of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals
Service and the federal Bureau of Prisons. It is also concerned with matters
relating to civil rights, crime prevention and most recently has focused
on crime prevention and issues relating to youth and children. The DOJ's
has focused its efforts by producing a Justice for Kids and Youth weblink
and by funding youth crime prevention-related video conferences and the
Internet cybercasts.

Time2Act.org
The Mission of Time2Act.org
is to be a part of the solution to today's problems in education, social
development and youth violence. It is intended to encourage discussion
among professionals in education, the justice system, parents, students
and the community to stimulate new approaches to these issues nationwide
and initiate reform. |
